RapidCalc is proudly supported by GlucoMen in UK and Ireland.

RapidCalc is a sophisticated bolus insulin dose calculator for diabetics following a basal-bolus regimen. With intelligent tracking of insulin on board, automatic carbohydrate ratio and blood glucose target selection, RapidCalc dramatically simplifies blood glucose management. Complete with detailed history, charting and statistics features, RapidCalc is designed to be easy to use and easy to live with.

INSULIN ON BOARD TRACKING
Cant remember when or how much you last dosed? - Dont worry. RapidCalc avoids dose stacking by keeping track of your bolus doses and factoring in Insulin On Board when calculating a suggested dose.

AUTOMATIC TARGET AND RATIO SELECTION
RapidCalc supports up to 6 different target blood glucose levels, correction factors and carbohydrate ratios for different times of day and automatically selects the appropriate values when calculating a suggested dose.

QUICK DATA ENTRY AND DOSE SUGGESTION
Unique slide-and-tap controls let you enter your blood glucose and carbohydrate values quickly and easily. Simply drag the slider close to your value and then tap on the slider rail to make fine adjustments. As you adjust your values RapidCalc instantly recalculates suggested meal and correction bolus doses.

BASAL DOSE RECORDING WITH REMINDERS
RapidCalc also makes it easy to record your background insulin doses and supports up to three preset doses with optional reminders.

"PUMPING WITHOUT A PUMP"
RapidCalc delivers many of the benefits normally associated with an insulin pump and indeed users describe it as being like "pumping without a pump". With RapidCalc it is possible to achieve control similar to that of a well set up pump.

ACTIVITY BASED DOSE ADJUSTMENT
Integrated dose adjustment for exercise based on intensity and duration as well as compensation for recent hypos or alcohol.

LOG BOOK, STATS AND CHARTING
RapidCalc effectively replaces your log book, providing a full 90-day history of blood glucose readings, insulin doses and carbohydrate intake which can be exported via email for archive or analysis. Built-in charts and summary statistics help you assess your blood glucose control, identify trends and even estimate your HbA1c.

Pros and cons of RapidCalc Diabetes Manager app for iPhone and iPad

RapidCalc Diabetes Manager app good for

Excellent app for calculating and tracking insulin dosage!!! I have used RapidCalc for 2 weeks now and my insulin control is much more precise than it ever was. You must take the time to input the data required in the setup and then take time to fine-tune for your body with frequent glucose tests - its worth the effort. By using "myfitnesspal" app to track carbs and RapidCalc to calculate insulin dose, along with the correct basal and bolus insulins, you can develop very accurate insulin control in a short time - I did it in under 2 weeks. The developer of RapidCalc is very responsive to feedback - he answered all my comments almost immediately!! The only negative is the limited graphing within the app which may not suit your needs. However, with the .csv download feature, you can make any kind of custom analysis with MS Excel or similar.
Ive always found it hard to track my sugars and calculate my insulin doses - just not paying enough attention to my health. RapidCalc has helped immensely with that! I test my sugars and count my carbs and RapidCalc does the calculating and recording. I know Ive taken the right dose, and I can even figure out how much to take if I indulge while out with the girls. Great app!
This is a very useful tool for calculating insulin dosing for meals and snacks. I used a pump previously and when I switched back to injections this app really helped. Looking forward to the next version.
This is app has changed everything for me. Useful from day one even though it takes a while to get the calibration perfect. I cant praise this app enough.
I tried then all and this is by far the smartest one. Well designed and precise. Feels like the other ones were not even tested on people. Dont spend money on other ones I did and I regret (wanted to find the best one). This appeal is what you need, especially if you already have a CGM. Thanks!
Simple and nice app. It helps you keep all necessary data about insulin. My glucose level back to safe zone

Some bad moments

It wont let me enter in a dose or blood sugar reading that happened in the past. When I go to edit after I enter in something, all the numbers and other days and times are grayed out and it wont let me select them. This defeats the entire purpose. Also wish you could just type in the actual glucose reading instead of using a slide
I truly value this app above all other insulin dosing or carb counting apps I have tried. In the 5 months I have had this tool, I have never made a dosing mistake because this tells me how much is already in my system, and how much extra to take to correct my glucose level. My numbers and ability to control them is starting to look like I am on an insulin pump. With most other apps... my food would always get cold when it took me 10-20 minutes to search and enter my food quantities into a carb logger... just to find out how many carbs Im going to eat. I can guess pretty good at this point. So with RapidCalc when the boss asks me to go to lunch I can be ready to go in less than 90 seconds. It is Very Fast for me to enter my numbers, get instant information on what to do. The log and stats are valuable too. I have also requested a couple enhancements for future versions and the developer was very receptive and kind.
Have used this app for 6 months now and it has resulted in great control. Went from an A1c of 6.6 to 5.3. Can use fast acting insulin at better amounts so as not to have highs and lows! The program now keeps track of basal insulin too! Keeps log as I keep track of insulin and carbs! Awesome program!!!! Make life with Diabeties on insulin so much easier! Thanks fir this program and the improvements have been even better!
Thanks to the developers of this smart app for such a helpful tool! I use it every day. I appreciate your adding the basal insulin calculator. Having a way to keep track of when I take the basal dose is very helpful since I cant always remember unless I record it. One change I would make is to increase the range of possible bg readings to 600 on the high end. Most testers will give readings up to 600 and on the odd occasion my bg goes over 450, I dont want to switch to another dosing calculator app that will accommodate the high. Looking forward to future versions...
Sharon Leitners review needs some correction from a very satisfied user of RapidCalc for over a year now. Sharon talks about the dose suggested when her daughter decides to eat a dessert 20 minutes after her main meal. This is covered in the help section in at least two places. In that situation it would be unusual to test your BGL again so tick the Blood Glucose not measured box and your dose will be correctly calculated. Reading the help file is always a good idea. There is also a FAQ section on the RapidCalc website. The help section also talks about following your doctors advice and her doctor has told her not to correct for a BG of under 120. I am not sure then why she would try and do so although her suggestion of a dose range is a good one. I would suggest that she sets her BG targets at the mid point of the range where she wants her daughters BG to be - this is what I do and have never had a problem. Sharon also talks about entering her daughters BG figures after her daughters weekend away. I dont think that this is the way the app is intended to be used as the value will be in calculating the insulin dose at the time you give it, not afterwards. Perhaps there is a reason why changes to the entries are limited - maybe accuracy of dose calculations is the reason. My advice is if you want the best results use the app as intended not as a BG diary and the problem of editing will never be a major issue. I have used RapidCalc for more than a year now with great results - no major hypos and a reduction in my A1c,but I did read the help file first and found it really useful....
Love this app. But u should consider adding the option of just keying in your bgl and ci it takes longer to slide your finger and try to get it right away.
